Freedom, sensuality and brutal facility marked the work of the last modern architect, OSCAR NIEMEYER. His Buildings incredibly supported, without pillars or apparent structures, flying slightly ramps as flying carpets, and the fluidity of their surfaces, avoiding the details, totally unnecessary in the art that the dreamer of Ipanema built.
The easiness with which his projects were developed and all his work together, has created many irritations in the professional field of architecture. It is as if the path from an idea, curvilinear sketches on a napkin, are readily converted into public spaces, libraries, museums, cultural centers, … and once made, are immediately assimilated into the collective memory of an entire country and why not a whole continent, because when a South American architect moves outside this context, our hero is Oscar Niemeyer.
The curves of course, are a sexual and tropical response to straight rationality, and they speak of freedom, easiness, sensuality and of course, identity, thanks Oscar.
