The unmodified topography of mountainsides present the purest architectural and aesthetics of La Paz a Bolivian city trapped between mountains where inhabitants are forced to climb abrupt peaks.

An intense social network exists in the dense fabric of houses that appear to be floating in the air or disappearing in an avalanche of stones as if swallowed by the mountain only to appear on the opposite side, creating a sense of capricious confusion that gives La Paz neighborhoods its unique identity.

Build spontaneously with unfinished raw materials these settlements suggest a state of permanent construction and development molding the city into  a new urban skin that  appears to grow and shed to a constant beat .

With no  economic and technical resources the people of these neighborhoods build on the slopes by minimally cutting and filling an environmentally sensitive practice that maintains the topography almost intact.
